🇩🇪 Uwe Weers

geboren 1964, lebt zwischen Zürich und der Nordseeküste –

dort, wo Weite, Wasser und Wind die Gedanken frei machen.

Seine Laufbahn führte ihn um die Welt: international aktiv, kulturell offen, tief verwurzelt in der Wissenschaft – u. a. am Max-Planck-Institut in Mainz und seit über 25 Jahren an der ETH Zürich.

Doch irgendwann wurde klar: Wissenschaft erklärt viel – aber nicht alles.
Also hat er seine Arbeitszeit reduziert, um dem nachzugehen, was sich nicht messen lässt: Menschen, Geschichten, Emotionen.

An der Dokumentarfilmschule von Werner Kubny (WDR) erlernte er das filmische Erzählen. Seitdem entstanden berührende Porträts, traditionsreiche Reportagen – vom Galli-Markt in Leer über den Alpaufzug zur Schwägalp bis zum Brünig-Schwinget oder einem Forschungsbeitrag aus Australien.

Heute verbindet Uwe Weers seine filmische Arbeit mit all dem, was ihn trägt:
Ein tiefes Interesse an Menschen, der Blick für das Wesentliche, die Klarheit aus dem Coaching, die Empathie eines Trauerredners – und der Weitblick eines Seglers.

Seine Dokus / Filme sind nie laut – aber sie bleiben.
So wie „Glaube Liebe Hoffnung“, das filmische Porträt über Tattoo-Legende Herbert Hoffmann.

🇬🇧 Uwe Weers

born in 1964, lives between Zurich and the North Sea coast -
where space, water and wind free the mind.
His career has taken him around the world: internationally active,

culturally open, deeply rooted in science -

including at the Max Planck Institute in Mainz and for over 25 years at ETH Zurich.

But at some point he realised that science explains a lot - but not everything.
So he reduced his working hours to pursue what cannot be measured: People, stories, emotions.
At Werner Kubny's documentary film school (WDR), he learnt how to tell stories on film.

Since then, he has created touching portraits and traditional reportages - from the Galli market in Leer to the Alpine procession to the Schwägalp and the Brünig-Schwinget or a research report from Australia.

Today, Uwe Weers combines his film work with everything that drives him:
A deep interest in people, an eye for the essentials, the clarity that comes from coaching, the empathy of a funeral speaker - and the vision of a sailor.

His documentaries/films are never loud - but they remain.
Just like ‘Glaube Liebe Hoffnung’, the film portrait of tattoo legend Herbert Hoffmann.

nato nel 1964, vive tra Zurigo e la costa del Mare del Nord -
dove spazio, acqua e vento liberano la mente.
La sua carriera lo ha portato in giro per il mondo: attivo a livello internazionale, aperto culturalmente, profondamente radicato nella scienza - anche presso il Max Planck Institute di Magonza e per oltre 25 anni al Politecnico di Zurigo.

Ma a un certo punto si è reso conto che la scienza spiega molto, ma non tutto.

Così ha ridotto le sue ore di lavoro per dedicarsi a ciò che non può essere misurato: Le persone, le storie, le emozioni.
Alla scuola di cinema documentario di Werner Kubny (WDR) ha imparato a raccontare storie su pellicola. Da allora ha realizzato ritratti toccanti e reportage tradizionali, dal mercato Galli di Leer alla processione alpina alla Schwägalp e alla Brünig-Schwinget o un reportage di ricerca dall'Australia.

Oggi Uwe Weers combina il suo lavoro cinematografico con tutto ciò che lo spinge:
Un profondo interesse per le persone, un occhio per l'essenziale, la chiarezza che deriva dal coaching, l'empatia di un oratore funebre - e la visione di un marinaio.

I suoi documentari/film non sono mai rumorosi, ma restano.
